Tom and Jess’ wedding day at the Barn at Aspen Acres was nothing short of the best day ever.
Tom has been one of my dearest friends for the past decade or so. We’ve seen each other through a lot of things–jobs at wine bars and in college admissions, laughing at mountain lions, and some heavy life stuff too. But we’ve also been a part of each other’s best days too. He introduced Dan to me. And married us. And I was there the day Tom met Jess and knew immediately she was perfect for Tom. The wedding party was filled with friends, and Dan made things legally binding. It was incredibly meaningful to photograph their day and to be the one to get to tell the story of it.
Remember in The Office when Jim and Pam run off and get married before their wedding? We did that. I love helping couples find ways to be themselves during their wedding days and I’m a big proponent of actually hanging out with your partner during your wedding day. We got up before sunrise and they privately said vows among the aspens.
The rest of the day was a little more conventional, but full of intentional and personal details. Kayly with Kayly Shae Floral Design nailed the boho, wildflower look that Jess was after. The food from Barbacoa’s and divine gluten free cupcakes from Cupcakes n’ Schmitt made the day even more incredible.
If you’re getting married in the Black Hills and want a versatile wedding venue with super accommodating staff, I couldn’t recommend The Barn at Aspen Acres more.
